Bernadette Trench-Thiedeman is a multi-disciplinary artist/performer who works with animation, puppetry, painting, drawing, sculpture, spatial design , installation and theatre making.
Her animation work has received awards, including from The Heart of Gold International Film Festival, and has been broadcast on ABC Asia, NITV and SBS. She has received Australian and international artist commissions from the Ice Hotel Sweden, the Melbourne International Food and Wine festival, and from private collectors. In 2016 she performed at the International Puppetry Festival of Charleville-Meziers, France, and was recently selected to undertake an Artist Residency at Skagastrond, Iceland in late 2016. She has toured internationally with the giant puppet company the Snuff Puppets, and has puppeteered for Lyric Opera, Museum Victoria and independent theatre companies.
She works with culturally and linguistically diverse artists and communities in urban and remote areas, and has developed community cultural development projects with educators, scientists and Indigenous Ranger groups. For the past 15 years she has worked as a visual and performing arts facilitator for organizations such as Marninwarntikura Fitzroy Women's Resource Centre, Mangkaja Arts, Theatre Kimberley, Goolarri Media Enterprises, Arts Access Victoria, Arts Project Australia and Museum Victoria.
